Can I take the student loan interest deduction for a loan I've had longer than five years?

For tax years before 2002, you were able to deduct only student loan interest for the first 60 months of the loan repayment. However, since 2002, this rule has been eliminated, and you can deduct student loan interest as long as you have the loan.
