What qualifies as a vacation home for income tax purposes?
|
The Internal Revenue Services is extremely liberal when defining what constitutes a vacation home. To qualify, the "home" merely needs to have basic living accommodations -- sleeping space, a cooking area and a bathroom. That loose definition has allowed taxpayers to claim recreational vehicles, campers, small trailers and even houseboats as their vacation home and still qualify for the related tax deductions.
